The Seattle Kraken begin a four-game road trip as they take on the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday night. This game will continue our NHL odds series as we hand out a Kraken-Red Wings prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

After an impressive playoff run last season, the Kraken are not off to a good start this year. They are 1-4-1, and have not been scoring well at all. Vince Dunn leads the team in points, but that is because of his team-best four assists. Jaden Schwartz, and James McCann lead the team with two goals each this season. There is some bad news for the Kraken, though. Defender Andre Burakovsky will be out for 6-8 weeks after getting surgery on an upper body injury.

The Red Wings are off to a great start this season. They are 5-1-0, and they have won five in a row. Alex DeBrincat leads the entire NHL in points with 12. He also has an NHL-best eight goals this season. Dylan Larkin is tied for the NHL lead in assists with eight, and he is second in points with 11. As a team, the Red Wings are pretty good net. They are giving up just 2.50 goals per game, and a combined .920 save percenage.

Phillip Grubauer is expected to be in net for the Kraken. Ville Husso should get the nod for the Red Wings

Why The Kraken Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Kraken need to play well in the defensive zone. They are not shooting the puck well, and the Red Wings do a good job stopping shots. Seattle allows 3.33 goals per game, but Grubauer's number is at 3.04. Giving up just three goals should allow the Kraken to stay in the game, and cover the spread. However, Grubauer needs to be good. The Red Wings are the best team in the NHL when it comes to scoring. With DeBrincat, and Larkin, it will not be easy for Grubauer. Missing Burakovsky on defense is an even bigger hit, as well. Grubauer has shown his ability to be good in net, so if he can rack up the saves in this one, the Kraken will cover.

Why The Red Wings Will Cover The Spread/Win

As mentioned, the Red Wings are the best scoring team in the NHL. They need to take advantage of that. Grubauer has not won a game this season, and the Red Wings will give him fits. Detroit scores five goals a game, and they are very good on the powerplay, as well. If Detroit can put the pressure on offensively, they will cover the spread.

The Kraken will get their shots off. They take 30 a game, but they do not make many of them. Seattle scores just 1.83 goals per game, and that is nowhere near good enough to win games. Detroit allows just 2.50 goals per game, so it is going to be very hard for Seattle to find the back of the net. This will help the Red Wings cover the spread.

Final Kraken-Red Wings Prediction & Pick

Seattle has not been trustworthy this season. If they score, they allow their opponent to answer with a goal of their own. With how the Red Wings have been playing this season, I like them to cover the spread.

Final Kraken-Red Wings Prediction & Pick: Red Wings -1.5 (+180), Over 6.5 (-105)
