Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso is all in on the resumption of the 2019-20 NBA regular season that he decided to skip his sister's 100-person wedding just to stay inside the NBA bubble.

Per ESPN's Zach Lowe, the 26-year-old fan favorite was supposed to attend his older sister Megan's wedding at Austin, Texas on July 18, up until the league released its schedule for the bubble at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Megan, who is two years older than Alex, is described by his brother “as close to my No. 1 fan as anyone could get”.

To be clear, Caruso can actually seek permission to leave the bubble as long as the league and his team grants his request. Players like New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson and Motrezl Harell and Patrick Beverley of the Los Angeles Clippers have already left the facilities citing family concerns.

Upon return, these players will once again be subjected to a 10-day quarantine and must pass a standard COVID-19 test.

Caruso, meanwhile, revealed that Lakers head coach Frank Vogel and GM Rob Pelinka actually gave him the green light to attend his sister's wedding. Even the team's two superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis gave him their blessing.

However, Caruso understands that he will be poised for a bigger role come July 30, since Avery Bradley didn't make it to the bubble and Rajon Rondo injured his hand.

“They supported my decision either way,” Caruso said. “They also helped me realize how important I am to what we are trying to do here, now that [Avery Bradley] didn't make it and [Rajon Rondo] hurt his hand. There is some added responsibility,” he added.

“They had my back,” Caruso said. “I felt genuine support from the organization.”

Caruso furthered that he also did not want to put his teammates at risk.

“The worst-case scenario is that the virus is dormant inside me, I get cleared, and I'm around the whole team,” he said.

The Lakers (49-14), meanwhile, are still the favorites to win it all this year. Caruso's dedication to the team speaks volumes about his character, and he will likely be rewarded with more playing time with the Purple and Gold.
