Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has been in the midst of a terrible shooting slump. Davis' struggles have largely been with his three-point shot, prompting reporters to ask him about his shot selection. Davis had a defiant message about his three-point shooting struggles.

Anthony Davis has been one of the best scorers in the league inside the paint and one of the worst outside of that area. So, why on earth should Anthony Davis continue to shoot threes? Take it from the Lakers star himself.

The threat of him shooting the three ball opens things up for LeBron James and especially, Russell Westbrook. If Davis starts living in the paint, there's a chance that the Lakers could begin to clog up the area, as Westbrook has made a career on paint-scoring. Plus, one has to love Davis' confidence in his game, even during hard times.

Now, as the CBS Sports article points out, there's really no statistical basis to support Davis' floor spacing claim. However, the Lakers were able to win a title with Davis playing the role of “three-level scorer.” In theory, it makes him harder to defend, so long as he's knocking down shots at all three levels.

Which, unfortunately, Davis isn't doing right now. The Lakers shouldn't try to change their star center. But perhaps Davis would benefit from getting inside early in the game and getting a couple of easy buckets to fall. It could be worth it for he and the Lakers to attempt to make a slight adjustment.

After all, Anthony Davis and the Lakers have nowhere to go but up.
