Anthony Davis continues to battle against his body. The Los Angeles Lakers star was forced out of their Saturday night contest against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Lakers big man is dealing with a stomach illness and will not return, according to a report from sideline reporter Mike Trudell.

AD was already considered questionable entering the game due to a thumb injury sustained during the Lakers' last contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The news is tough especially considering Frank Vogel's latest comments on Anthony Davis' desire to play through his ailments.

Via Harrison Faigen:

“I know this year he’s really upset with how last year went and how much time he missed,” revealed the Lakers coach. “So everything that is 50/50 on whether he’ll be in or out thus far this year, it’s been ‘I’m playing unless I absolutely can’t play.’ He was upset with how much time he missed last year, so if he can play without major limitations he’s going to be in there.”

It's a tough blow for the purple a gold, who are already facing a slew of injury woes to start off the season. Hopefully Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers can regroup sooner rather than later.
