It's been a whirlwind past 24 hours for Anthony Davis, who has been recently ensnared by rumors of a potential stint with his hometown Chicago Bulls, as he prepares to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. The Los Angeles Lakers big man, however, turned down the speculation that he'd consider joining the Bulls as a free agent, claiming he never said so during a recent appearance at a Chicago sporting goods store, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Prior to that, Davis was quoted saying Chicago is more of a Mecca of basketball than New York, as he took questions after Monday's practice before Tuesday's game against the Bulls.

Those comments were later compounded when Davis' appearance went viral, leaving the door open for some Bulls noise.

Davis said he's fully focused on winning a championship with the Lakers, and that everyone is aware he will be a free agent next year and “we’ll see where it goes.”

Davis' agent Rich Paul teased that his client would be testing the free-agent market no matter what one July rolls around, but there is no clear indication that Davis would consider anything but re-signing with the Lakers, who have the top spot in the West after a 5-1 start to the season.

Chicago is the city that bred and raised Anthony Davis, but rumors of his interest are nothing but speculative at this point, considering he's yet to play a substantial part of the season with his new team after being traded by the New Orleans Pelicans.
