Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis says having no fans at NBA games would change a lot of things.

The NBA and NBPA held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways to continue the season without the cancellation or loss of games because of the ongoing coronavirus.

The league is beginning to concede, though, that there will be a period of time without fans in attendance.

While the protection of players, fans and team personnel is the priority amid the pandemic, Davis' comments aren't without merit. After all, fans create the atmosphere of the games and there is no doubt they help in bringing energy to players and excitement to the game.

The Lakers, of course, can relax a little given that they have already qualified for the playoffs. However, there is no doubt that playing games without fans will feel weird — especially for a big team like the Purple and Gold, who boast hundreds of thousands of supporters.

For what it's worth, the Golden State Warriors will host the Brooklyn Nets in an empty Chase Center on Thursday. It remains to be seen if other teams like the Lakers will follow suit, but Anthony Davis and Co. should certainly be prepared for the possibility.

In response to the pandemic, the league is already limiting locker room access to only player and essential team personnel in response to the coronavirus. Teams have also been also instructed to create a six to eight foot distance between players and media in availability sessions outside locker rooms.
