Brandon Ingram will play the point guard position for the Los Angeles Lakers when they go up against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.

The shorthanded Lakers squad, who are without with Lonzo Ball, LeBron James, and possibly still Rajon Rondo on Thursday, will insert Ingram into the court general spot on Thursday. Head coach Luke Walton said that Ingram will still play the spot whether or Rondo is available, per Mike Trudell.

Ingram is no stranger to playing the point guard position. Last season, he was the primary point guard for the purple and gold. According to Walton, the move was aimed at engaging Ingram more into the game.

Rondo, for his part, has missed the last 14 games due to a broken hand. For the season, in the 48 games the Lakers have played so far, the 32-year-old has only played in 14. He gave an update on his condition and his availability on Thursday against the Timberwolves, per the Lakers.

“I’ve been feeling like I’m good to play for the last couple of weeks but I’m still taking it day by day and I’ll see how I feel in the morning when I wake up … It’s a decision I’ll probably have to make closer to the game.”

The Lakers have been trying to weather the storm with their best players out. They've only won four of their last 10 games and currently have a 25-23 record for ninth place in the competitive Western Conference.
