It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers are going to get a much-needed boost for Friday's tilt against the Portland Trail Blazers. Dennis Schroder, who has been out of action due to health and safety protocols, is reportedly probable to return on Friday after missing several games.

This report comes via Jamie Hudson of NBCS:

The last time Schroder took the floor for the Lakers was on February 16. Incidentally, this was the last time the Lakers logged a victory, and they've suffered four consecutive losses sans Schroder. Needless to say, the defending champs would love to get their starting point guard back for Friday's bout against Damian Lillard and the Blazers.

It is not clear how and where Schroder was exposed to the virus, but he was forced to serve the league's mandatory quarantine period prior to returning. The good news is that the 27-year-old returned a negative test result last week. A positive result would have required him to sit out a longer period for L.A.

As the report above indicated, the Lakers are playing through several injuries right now, with none more significant than that of Anthony Davis. AD has been ruled out for the next several weeks due to a calf issue, and for the time being, L.A. will need to navigate their next games without their star big man.

LeBron James has been doing his best to try and carry the Lakers to victory amid the slew of injuries. This hasn't worked too well for the Purple & Gold so far, though, so hopefully, Schroder's return will help turn things around for the suddenly struggling Lakers.
