Dennis Schroder did not hold back in expressing his desire to be with the Los Angeles Lakers long term amid reports that his camp has started discussing with the team his potential extension.

After helping the Lakers blow out the Dallas Mavericks 138-115 in the Christmas Day showdown, Schroder talked to reporters and addressed his rumored extension negotiations with the Purple and Gold. In true Schroder style–much like when he said he expects to start for LA–the 27-year-old combo guard said he would “love” to reach a deal that will keep him a Laker in the long run.

“I would love to. It's just got to be fair on both sides,” Dennis Schroder said while adding that the Lakers are one “hell of an organization,” per Dan Woike of Los Angeles Times.

As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported, the Lakers can offer Schroder more money–up to $83 million for four years–come February. However, it remains to be seen if they are ready to commit $20 million-plus to the explosive guard after splurging to extend Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma.

Schroder is in the last year of his current contract, meaning he'll be a free agent at the end of the 2020-21 season if he fails to get a new deal with the Lakers. He's set to make $15.5 million this campaign.

The Lakers sent Danny Green and the No. 28 pick in the 2020 draft to acquire the services of Schroder in the recent offseason.
