The Washington Wizards' Game 2 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers took a turn for the worst as Russell Westbrook left early after suffering a sprained ankle. On his way to the locker room, he was met with the dumping of popcorn on him from a fan, an incident that has spurned outrage from the sports world. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was among those to share his thoughts, and now former Laker Metta World Peace is giving his two cents and isn't holding back one bit.

It was an absolutely absurd and appalling incident. If World Peace thinks so, then it must have been really bad. After all, everybody remembers the infamous Malice at the Palace that World Peace — then Ron Artest — was a part of that ultimately landed him a hefty suspension from the NBA.

There's simply no place in basketball — or sports in general — for anything of that nature. It's unfortunate that it had to happen at all. Westbrook might not make his way back to Philadelphia in the series, especially with his status up in the air for the remainder of the series after the tough injury.

Hopefully, somebody is reprimanded for the action, and even Metta World Peace is furious after the incident during Game 2. The good news is that the Wizards will take the series home, so nothing of the sort should happen there.
