Newly-acquired Los Angeles Lakers point guard Isaiah Thomas will have to wait until next season to see his tribute video from the Boston Celtics, as the Lakers have already played their scheduled game in Beantown this season.

The Celtics had planned on showing Thomas' tribute video in a game against the Cavs earlier this season, but the date coincided with Paul Pierce's jersey retirement ceremony. As a result, the video salute was never shown.

With just hours remaining until Thursday's trade deadline, the Lakers struck a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, sending Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson to Cleveland for Thomas, Channing Frye, and a 2018 first round pick.

As most hoops fans know, Thomas, now 29 years of age, spent much of this season recovering from the hip injury he sustained in the 2016-17 Eastern Conference Playoffs. The crafty ball-handler has since recovered, but for a myriad of reasons, his stint with the Cavs was short-lived. In his 15 games played this season, the former Washington Huskies stand-out has posted averages of 14.7 points on 36.1 percent shooting from the field (25.3 percent frm beyond the arc), 4.5 assists, and 2.1 rebounds.

Frye, 34, became a beloved member of the Cavaliers organization, but he too is heading to LA. In his 44 appearances with Cleveland this season, the former University of Arizona Wildcat has turned in averages of 4.8 points on 49.7 percent shooting from the field (33.3 percent from downtown) and 2.5 rebounds. Known as a “stretch big,” Channing should be able to help the Lakers right away.

The Lakers, now the 3rd-ranked team in the Pacific Division standings with a 22-31 overall record, will be back in action on — night, as they're scheduled to host the Oklahoma City Thunder inside the Staples Center. Tip-off is set for 10:30 p.m. with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
