Los Angeles Lakers second-year small forward Kyle Kuzma honored the life of late University of Utah track athlete Lauren McCluskey with his shoes Saturday night on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.

McCluskey was killed Monday night on the campus in Salt Lake City. Like her, Kyle Kuzma played his college basketball at the University of Utah. He played in three seasons there where he averaged 10.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

It's tragic what happened to Lauren McCluskey, who was only 21-years-old. Kyle Kuzma scored 15 points Saturday night against the Spurs in a game the Lakers lost, 110-106. Los Angeles is now 2-4 on the season.

It's unclear if Kuzma will honor McCluskey all season. Prior to the Lakers' rising star, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell also paid tribute to McCluskey a few days ago.

The horror of the incident is beyond imagination but acts like that of Kyle Kuzma and Mitchell goes to show the kinship that runs through one's collegiate ties, regardless of field.
