LaVar Ball has been relatively silent over the past several weeks, but he’s starting to rev up his mouth again. This time, he’s going after the Los Angeles Lakers training staff, which he believes is to blame for the injury woes of his son, Lonzo Ball, during the point guard’s first season in the NBA.

In an interview with Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, the outspoken LaVar Ball did not mince his words in calling out Alex Gunnar, the Lakers’ Director of Strength and Endurance Training, saying that the latter is mostly responsible for why Lonzo was forced to sit out plenty of games in his rookie year in the league.

“My expectation for Lonzo is for him to be twice as good as he was this year, and to be more healthy,” LaVar told HoopsHype. “He understands, he went through it. If you’re going to be doing those [workouts with] rubber-bands like that dude Gunnar has him doing, that [is] bullsh*t training. That’s what I call it. Sh*t, he wasn’t like that when I brought him over there. When he first came [to the Lakers], he never got hurt. He was never hurt.”

Anyone who's heard of anything that came out of LaVar’s mouth before isn’t going to be surprised by this latest diatribe from the controversial founder and CEO of Big Baller Brand. Putting the blame on others for any shortcoming by sons is a classic trope of LaVar.

Lonzo Ball missed 30 games in the regular season due to various injuries such as a sprained MCL, sprained shoulder, and contusion in his left knee. In 52 games, Lonzo averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.9 rebounds.
