Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo is expected out to be for four to five days due to a finger injury, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Rondo suffered a nondisplaced volar plate avulsion fracture to his right ring finger in Saturday's 125-110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. An X-ray was conducted in Chesapeake Energy Arena which yielded negative results.

Come Monday, however, an MRI revealed the fracture.

The 33-year-old point guard sat out in the Lakers' easy 128-99 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.

If the reported timeline is strictly followed, then Rondo will miss Wednesday's duel with the Orlando Magic. On Saturday, however, he could suit up against the Houston Rockets in a battle between two of the elite teams in the league.

Rondo has been a huge part of Frank Vogel's second unit. In 27 games (two starts), the veteran is putting up 7.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists across 21.6 minutes. He has missed some games due to various injuries but for the most part, he's been healthy in his second season with the Lakers.

In fact, in their 125-110 win over the Thunder, Rondo stepped up big time in the absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He almost finished with a triple-double in the game, registering 21 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Vogel usually opts to field Rondo together with LeBron so as to take off some load off the latter's back. Since whenever James is on the floor, he has the dual task of moving the ball and getting some buckets for himself as well.

With Rajon Rondo out, Vogel is expected to field the likes of Quinn Cook, Alex Caruso, Troy Daniels and Jared Dudley a bit more. The veteran guard is a critical piece in the Lakers' offense so more than one player needs to step up to fill the void.
