Following their 136-94 loss at the hands of the Indiana Pacers, the Los Angeles Lakers completed a trade with the Detroit Pistons that allowed them to acquire guard Reggie Bullock.

After the trade was confirmed by multiple sources, Bullock posted a brief but heartfelt farewell message on Twitter, expressing his love and appreciation for the Pistons and its fans.

Bullock, 27, spent four years with the Pistons, averaging 8.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

This season, the six year veteran is putting up 12.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

It is reported that the Lakers were targeting 3-point shooters with expiring contracts before the trade deadline on Thursday, and Bullock fits those categories. He's shooting 38 percent from deep this year and will become a free agent this summer.

The Lakers gave up Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and a second round pick in the trade.

After almost an entire week of pursuing New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis, the Lakers seem to have moved on after the Pels reportedly asked for 6-8 draft picks in exchange for their disgruntled star. This is the plan B for Los Angeles, who are trying to surround superstar LeBron James with guys who can shoot.

The Lakers will reportedly target guys like Washington Wizards' Trevor Ariza, Miami Heat's Wayne Ellington, and Orlando Magic's Terrence Ross before Thursday's deadline.

As they prepare to save the season, the Lakers will most likely do whatever it takes to improve the team. They are currently 10th in the Western Conference, and with less than 30 games remaining, they will need all the help they can get.

Bullock will play a key role in the Lakers' quest to make the playoffs and even beyond that.
