Talen Horton-Tucker was able to clear the COVID-19 protocols and return to the Los Angeles Lakers in time for their Tuesday showdown with the Phoenix Suns. However, THT was certainly not in the best condition.

The Lakers fell to the Suns in a 108-90 blowout in Staples Center, and Horton-Tucker was non-impactful at all. While it is understandable that THT was rusty–considering that he missed three games as he entered the league's health and safety protocol–his performance against Phoenix is something he needs to look at and reflect on.

He finished with three points, two rebounds and one assist … in nearly 32 minutes of action … in a start. Horton-Tucker shot 1-of-18 from the field, including 0-of-8 from 3-point territory. According to Stat Muse, that is tied for the most 3-point misses without a make in Lakers history.

Ouch!

Did the Lakers rush getting back and playing the youngster? Probably. However, it is definitely a major eye-opener for Talen Horton-Tucker as he establishes himself as a key contributor for the Purple and Gold.

THT will be a key factor for the Lakers in their bid to make the playoffs this 2021-22 and contend for the NBA title, and for him to do that, he needs to always stay ready and learn to bounce back after some rough games. He already learned the first lesson against the Suns, and now, fans will have to wait if he can do the other.
