The Los Angeles Lakers are 3-0 since signing veteran center Tyson Chandler, and the California native says his transition to the team has been smooth due to the help of backup point guard Rajon Rondo.

Rondo, one of the most vocal players in the league, has been talking Chandler through every play in practice and making it easier for the 36-year-old. Rondo said last week that Chandler sets the best screens on the roster. The two veterans are bonding nicely for the Lakers.

Tyson Chandler is averaging only 3.0 points with the purple and gold, but his biggest impact has been on the defensive end. He's grabbing 8.3 rebounds and blocking 1.3 shots per game. The 18-year veteran had the game-winning block against Atlanta Hawks rookie Trae Young on Sunday. He has four blocks in three games with the Lakers.

Starting center JaVale McGee and Chandler are the only rim protectors the Lakers have on the roster. LA's pick-and-roll defense is pretty putrid, so the two big men will need to guard the paint all season if the Lakers want to make the playoffs in the rugged Western Conference.

Guys who play with Rajon Rondo seem to always talk about how he's a great teammate and leader. The four-time All-Star doesn't care about stats or who starts. He just wants to win games. In 10 games this season, Rondo is averaging 9.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists. The Lakers are fortunate to have two players in Chandler and Rondo who have championship pedigree to come off their bench.
