The Los Angeles Lakers understand something needs to change following their 2021-2022 disastrous season. But making changes after trading most of their assets away for Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis is no easy task. Nonetheless, LA will make an attempt to be active on the trade market this offseason. NBA podcaster Kevin O'Connor recently reported that the Lakers could have interest in Washington Wizards' star Bradley Beal.

“The one name that I’ve heard recently is Bradley Beal as another guy that they want.”

O'Connor continued by listing other potential Bradley Beal suitors, as well as explaining the Lakers potential approach to acquiring the star shooting guard.

“You know Beal, it seems like Miami would be more of the threat to take him away from Washington. I don’t think you can also rule out Boston either because of his relationship with Jayson Tatum, but the Lakers are trying to angle for some moves like that using the Russ expiring and the ’27 and the ’29 firsts.”

Tempting the Wizards with future first round picks is a start. But Washington would likely have minimal interest in re-acquiring Westbrook after dealing him to the Lakers last summer. However, Los Angeles could make the deal more enticing by adding Talen Horton-Tucker and/or Malik Monk to the trade package.

But giving up that much talent for Beal, who is coming off of an injury-plagued 2021-2022 campaign, is risky for the Lakers. Nonetheless, the risk may be worth it given their desire to bounce back and post a winning season.
