If the Washington Wizards make small forward Trevor Ariza available at the Feb. 7 trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly heavily pursue him, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

The Lakers tried to acquire Trevor Ariza earlier in the season from the Phoenix Suns, but Phoenix decided to trade Ariza to the Wizards for swingman Kelly Oubre and point guard Austin Rivers.

In 49 games this season with the Suns and Wizards, Ariza is averaging 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The 33-year-old is shooting 38.5 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Ariza played for the Lakers from 2007-09 and was part of the 2009 championship team. He is making $15 million this season and will become an unrestricted free agent after the campaign ends.

The Lakers are 27-26 on the year, good for 10th place in the Western Conference standings. The franchise wants to add Ariza because he will give them another 3-point shooter and a solid wing defender. It's unclear if the Wizards will make Ariza available. Washington was said to be trying to make a playoff push, but they are 22-31 and out of the postseason picture as of now.
