The Los Angeles Lakers are supposedly shopping Lonzo Ball for assets to use in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs to land Kawhi Leonard.

How do we know this? The mean streets of Twitter told us such a wonderful thing.

This should certainly be taken as much as a rumor as it is a report. That's not a slight on Mike Ortiz, but there have been plenty of legitimate reports over the last 48 hours, most of which turned out to be teams' turns at hurling smoke screens out to the free world by way of agenda riddled leaks.

Of note, however, is that it has long been rumored that Gregg Popovich likes Lonzo Ball as a player, but didn't want the baggage that would come with obtaining him from the Lakers. Los Angeles, in theory, is doing the next best thing — getting value for the youngster to give Pop players he would take in a trade for Kawhi Leonard.

With LeBron James opting out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, fully expect the Lakers — as well as rumors surrounding them — to begin to heat up.

Only time will tell if Lonzo Ball makes it through the offseason in the purple and gold, or if he'll be playing elsewhere next season.
