The Tampa Bay Lightning shredded the Stanley Cup dreams of the Florida Panthers with a second-round sweep of the Presidents' Trophy-winning squad. And if you ask anyone who the best player was for the Lightning in that series, chances are you're going to hear the name of goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who had done a sensational job between the pipes in silencing the supposedly unstoppable Florida attack.

Vasilevskiy went 4-0 against the Panthers in the playoffs and posted an incredible.981 SV%, allowing just three goals overall. In Game 4, he turned away everything the Panthers gave him, completely blanking a Florida squad that was the only team in the regular season to average more than four goals per contest. If that's the kind of Vasilevskiy that will show up in the next round versus either the New York Rangers or the Carolina Hurricanes, then life is about to get harder for the skaters of that matchup's winning team.

Lightning forward Alex Killorn had the perfect words to underscore how unbelievably great Vasilevskiy is of late.

Via Yahoo Sports:

“It’s pretty cool to play with a player that I think will go down as one of the best goalies that’s ever played the game,” he said.

“That’s how you kind of gauge players – how they perform in big-time games – and he’s been nothing but tremendous in his game.”

Vasilevskiy looked shaky in some games in the first round against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but stepped up in the most important games. Since then, he hasn't looked back.

The Lightning are the reigning Stanley Cup champions for a number of reasons, perhaps none bigger than the play of Vasilevskiy.
