The Detroit Lions and their star cornerback Darius Slay have been in an odd situation for quite some time now.

Slay is one of the best cornerbacks in football. However, his contract expires after the 2020 season, and he wants to get paid.

The Lions would obviously love to have him back, but it's more complicated than that. They need to figure out how to pay him, while having the money for everyone else as well.

This means that any number of possibilities could happen in regards to Slay. And according to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, Detroit GM Bob Quinn says everything is on the table when it comes to the cornerback.

What that means is, the Lions are looking at every possible avenue. They could sign him long-term, or let the contract run out at the end of the year. Then from their they could try to re-sign him, or simply let him walk in free agency.

Meanwhile, the Lions could also trade the cornerback, getting assets in return.

So Detroit truly does have everything on the table in regards to Slay. What one is most likely isn't completely known. However, it does seem like a trade could happen. Especially if the Lions select star cornerback Jeff Okudah in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

If that is indeed the plan, Detroit could definitely look to move the cornerback. While having two stars at the position would be nice, the Lions might feel this would be a much cheaper alternative. With the money they save from not re-upping with Slay, the could fill other holes and become a more complete team.

Whatever option the Lions decide to go though, we now know that they're not looking past any possibility.
