The Detroit Lions stud defensive end Ezekiel Ansah may be spending his last season on the team after playing under the franchise tag in 2018. Head coach Matt Patricia was not able to provide much of an update on the situation regarding one of his best defensive players.

Ansah suffered a severe looking shoulder injury in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. The speculation is the defensive end's season is over and will likely be playing with another team next season.

The Lions have had solid defensive units in recent seasons and unfortunately for the Lions, Ezekiel Ansah has been a focal point. So it would be detrimental if Ansah were to leave the team after this season. Ziggy could get himself a nice contract elsewhere and at this point in his career it's worth noting that he may be after a paycheck at this point in his career.

Ansah has accounted for 48.0 sacks as a Detroit Lion and had his best season back in 2015 when he had 14.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. Ansah also had 47 tackles in that 2015 season. Unfortunately for Ansah, he has missed his fair share of games over the years and it appears he'll miss some more this season.

The defensive end position is crucial in today's game considering how dominant the quarterback position is and how much the league caters to quarterbacks. Ansah has many years left to play considering he is only in his sixth season and can hopefully return to play at the level he once used to.
