The Detroit Lions seem to have dodged a bullet.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Lions will not be placing tight end T.J. Hockenson on the injured reserve list after the rookie took a scary fall during the team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Hockenson landed hard on his right shoulder and head after trying to hurdle over a Chiefs defender in the second quarter, resulting in a concussion. Hockenson lay on the ground in pain, and players from both teams expressed concern.

He was then carted off the field, but it was later reported that Hockenson was in great spirits.

The 22-year-old logged three catches for 27 yards and a touchdown in what ended up being a heartbreaking 34-30 defeat.

On the season overall, Hockenson has caught 11 passes for 166 yards and a couple of scores.

Hockenson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Iowa, was selected by the Lions with the eighth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in April.

The Chariton, Ia. native spent two seasons at Iowa, arriving at the school in 2017. During his freshman year, he snared 24 balls for 320 yards and three touchdowns, and in his sophomore campaign, he hauled in 49 receptions for 760 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

Detroit dropped to 2-1-1 with the loss and has a rough schedule up ahead. It will have its bye next week but will then have to head on the road to battle the Green Bay Packers in Week 6 before returning home to host the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 20.
