The Tencent League of Legends Pro League (LPL) Spring 2022 season is underway, and after winning three out of the past four World Championships, many eyes are on this region.

Many off-season roster moves made this season exciting. Legendary bot laner Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao came out of retirement, and Super Carry Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang parts ways with FunPlus Phoenix and joined LNG Esports. Aside from Uzi, Bilibili Gaming has also acquired Taiwanese bot laner Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan, and viewers were excited to see how he would perform.

The LPL Groups Stage is structured as a single-round robin, with each match a best of three. The top 10 teams advance to the LPL Spring 2022 Season Playoffs. The teams compete for a prize pool of ¥4,200,000 CNY, equivalent to almost $700,000.

Week 1

LPL Spring 2022 opened with banger games, and teams came out swinging on the first week. Oh My God played three matches this week, and did not drop a single one. Deservedly, their rookie top laner Deng “shanji” Zi-Jian received the player of the week for week 1. This week also saw the LPL Spring 2022's first pentakill, earned by Ultra Prime bot laner Zhao “Elk” Jia-Hao. Check it out:

Defending World Champions EDward Gaming show dominance especially in the bot lane, where their duo Park “Viper” Do-hyeon and Tian “Meiko” Ye were heralded the best in their roles for this week.

Week 2

EDward Gaming continues to dominate the region. Bilibili Gaming's bot laner Doggo steps into Uzi's shoes and is deservedly awarded the player of the week having the highest KDA, Damage per minute, Gold per minute, and Damage per Gold. LPL Spring 2022 Week 2 also saw one of the longest games in LPL history, and it ended with Top Esports quite literally running it down midlane. Is it a backdoor? You decide:

Week 3 and 4

Of course, the LPL wouldn't let the Lunar New Year pass without celebration. Even players took part in the festivities! Check some of them out:

Invictus Gaming's top laner Tang “Zika” Huayu was awarded the Best Rookie for Week 3 and 4, and Royal Never Give Up's mid laner Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao was these two weeks' best player.

Meanwhile, on the Rift, a play by Super Carry Doinb keeps LNG undefeated!
