UCLA guard and the second pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Lonzo Ball is coming into this league with some serious expectations. His father, LaVar Ball, has done a good job of hyping Lonzo up, albeit alongside numerous controversial storylines.

However, behind all the controversial and possibly over-confident statements stands a player who people legitimately compare to Nets legend and current Bucks coach Jason Kidd. Ball had a great season at UCLA and, now, he is ready to enter the next stage of his career. Every day, Ball is strategically defending his father and his outrageous statements, trying to prove that the hype is real.

The same excitement for this prospect is shown by new Lakers president Magic Johnson. A former guard himself, Johnson openly expressed all the admiration he has for the young UCLA stud. According to SLAM Magazine, Johnson told Ball to leave at least one or two of his Lakers records, making sure to not break them all.

Johnson traded former second pick D'Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets for center Brook Lopez and the 27th pick, in a move that cemented the Lakers desire to select a guard (D'Angelo Russell replacement?) with their second pick. While some reports stated that the Lakers might select Kentucky guard De'Aaron Fox, Ball was just too good to pass for the Los Angeles-based franchise.

Ball averaged around 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game while showing lethal three-point range, shooting at a steller 41 percent from downtown.
