The Orlando Magic rebuild is completely underway. After a season that saw them get rid of nearly all of their core pieces on the court, they've now removed the main member of the team off of it.

The Orlando Magic have parted ways with their head coach Steve Clifford, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski

“Clifford, who led the Magic to the playoffs in successive seasons prior to this year, had several meetings with management over recent weeks that ultimately drove what's been described to ESPN as a “mutual decision,” sources said.”

The Magic coach of three years has long been a well-respected tactician. Despite a middling roster, he had been able to lead his squad to the playoffs in his first two years. But after going out with a whimper both times, the front office had taken drastic steps to become a clear-cut lottery team this season. With Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier, and Aaron Gordon all traded away mid-season, the writing was clearly on the wall for Clifford.

With a full rebuild in tow, the Magic will definitely look for someone with an eye for player development. With a potentially high lottery pick incoming, and probably even more in the next few seasons, the Magic need to make sure they find the right guy.
