Shortly after noon on Wednesday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reported that Orlando Magic point guard Markelle Fultz will be ready to go for training camp. The former No. 1 overall pick later confirmed this news during his media availability.

“Do you feel like you're fully ready to go for camp?” a reporter asked Fultz during Wednesday's media availability.

“I can't tell you how great it feels to be out there,” Fultz replied. “All of the trials and tribulations… just sticking to living in the now and working hard. I'm feeling really good. I'm looking forward to training camp, just taking it day by day.”

The “trials and tribulations” that Fultz mentioned is likely a reference to his battle with a shoulder injury. In November of 2018, Fultz' agent announced that his client was dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS), which is a neurogenic type of disorder that affects nerves between the neck and shoulder.

The fact that Fultz is expected to be ready for training camp is certainly great news for the Magic, and head coach Steve Clifford is happy to have him aboard:

“He’s so talented, but just because of the situation [with his injured shoulder], it’s just about him taking it day by day,” Clifford told NBA.com in September. “Seeing how things have progressed have helped him and that’s just the smart way to go for now.”

Fultz made 19 appearances with the Sixers last season (15 starts), averaging 8.2 points on 41.9 percent shooting from the field (28.6 percent from beyond the arc), 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and just under one steal in 22.5 minutes per outing.

The Magic finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 42-40 overall record, which earned the team a No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Orlando was defeated by the Toronto Raptors in the opening round, 4-1.

Hopefully, with Fultz appearing healthier by the day, the Magic will be able to make another playoff push in the coming season.
