Markelle Fultz has taken part in the Orlando Magic voluntary workouts and seems to be going through the gears for his awaited return to the court. The former No. 1 overall selection was traded by the Philadelphia 76ers in the middle of his second season, sitting out the remainder of the year as the Magic training staff looked to rehabilitate him from a longstanding injury to his shooting right shoulder.

It seems Fultz has been putting in the work on his revamped jumper, now taking and making open jays from all distances, no longer limited by the discomfort he previously had during his time with the Sixers.

However a less hype-man type of video reveals his shot isn't quite what this team-promoted post makes it to be. At first the shot looks smooth in motion and effortless during these early shooting drills:

But a closer look shows that he still has to push the shot away from his face to be able to shoot it comfortably, a sign that he still doesn't have the proper strength to shoot a long-range jumper the way most NBA players do.

Fultz is still a work in progress, and while he's expected to fully participate in practices once training camp begins on Oct. 1, it's better to temper expectations ahead of his return, as he is far from being the caliber of player most expect out of a first overall pick.

The 6-foot-4 point guard has however made some strides in his overall flow when handling the ball and pulling up:

Yet Fultz has plenty of more work to be do if he is to ever do some justice to the 41.3% he shot from distance during his lone year in college at Washington.
