Keith Appling of the Orlando Magic made an incredibly poor decision over the weekend that will likely cost him his job with the team, and possibly his freedom.

On Sunday night, Appling was arrested at a strip club in Michigan for carrying a loaded AK-47, according to Justin Rose of WXYZ in Detroit.

The arrest was confirmed by Tara Edwards of WXYZ. She added that “it is not clear what Appling was allegedly planning to do with the weapon.”

Just prior to his arrest, Appling had finished a season with the Magic's D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks. He started in 34 of 35 games. He also played five games for the Magic, averaging 1.2 points, 0.2 assists, 0.2 rebounds and 0.2 steals per game in the only regular season NBA action he's ever seen.

Currently, Appling is being held in jail by the Dearborn Police Department, and his case will eventually be heard by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

According to Oralandar Brand-Williams of the Detroit News, Appling's agent Ronald Shade has been unable to make contact with the Orlando guard since his arrest was initially reported.

“The last time I heard, he was traveling from L.A. with his daughter back to Detroit to start working out,” said Shade. “So that's all I know at this point.”
