It didn't take very long for a pitcher to be ejected after the MLB enforced a new policy to crack down on sticky substances. On Sunday, Seattle Mariners pitcher Hector Santiago became the first one to get ejected during the game against the Chicago White Sox.

Santiago finished the day for the Mariners with 2.1 innings while giving up three hits and a run and a pair of walks. It doesn't seem like the substances even worked for him.

After the MLB enforced the policy, pitchers such as Max Scherzer and Sergio Romo were extra dramatic and expressed their frustrations of having to be repeatedly checked during the game. Neither were caught with the substances, but both didn't hold back their true feelings on the MLB and the new policy.

Trevor Bauer and Gerrit Cole have been roughed up since the policy, which could just be a coincidence. Either way, the first one to get the boot is Santiago, to the surprise of everybody.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred caught hot water after implementing the rule, especially since it was done midseason. Keep an eye out for more pitchers to be slapped with an ejection and further punishment with the umpires constantly checking.
