Marlon Vera is coming off of an impressive victory over Rob Font at UFC Vegas 53 over the past weekend. He has a few fun options for his next fight and he's looking at a rematch with a former champion.

The fight with Rob Font was very fun and Marlon Vera had plenty of moments where he hurt his opponent. The Ecuadorian bantamweight fighter spoke to the media after UFC Vegas 53.

“I picked him apart and I hurt him,” Vera said at the UFC Vegas 53 post-fight press conference via MMAFighting. “I was close to putting him out a couple of times, but you’ve got to be smart in there. Some people get too crazy when they hurt their opponent, and then they gas out. You’ve got to be smart in the long run. … He was talking a little shit like he was too good, or too technical, so now he sees what’s up.”

Marlon Vera showed he could go all five rounds and he wants to prove a rematch with Jose Aldo would be different if the fight had two extra rounds. The bantamweight contender made it clear he wants the former UFC featherweight champion next.

“I would love to fight Aldo again, and especially in a five-rounder, just because he declined a five-rounder when we fought last December,” said Vera, referring to a December 2020 loss to Aldo in the co-headliner of UFC Vegas 17. “I would love to kick his ass, and if we get to match again, I will finish again. I guarantee that.”
