Luka Doncic has been a pro since he was 13 over in Europe and most of the time he dominated the competition. Before the draft, Charles Barkley said he wouldn't take Doncic with either of the top two picks because he questioned some of the competition he faced off against.

Barkley talked about it on Planet Pollard Podcast:

“I don’t trust the foreign competition. I have nothing against foreign players; I just don’t know what type of competition,” Charles Barkley told Pollard. “At 18 years old [Luka Doncic] was the MVP. Well that tells me he’s playing against s—-y competition. Nobody at 18 should be dominating grown men.

“You go back and look at the NBA, there’s only one 18-year-old you can go back and say, ‘Oh, he’s the real deal.’ That’s LeBron James. People forget as great as Kobe Bryant was, he struggled for his first few years. Kevin Garnett struggled his first few years.

It is true that Doncic wasn't quite facing the level of competition that he will be in the NBA, but that doesn't mean he can't have success in the league.

Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry came from mid-major schools and didn't face the toughest competition night in and night out, but both of those guys still seem to have the NBA figured out.

Some have said that Doncic is one of the best ever to come over from the EuroLeague to the NBA and that is quite the compliment.

Doncic is going to have a lot of fuel to play well this year, and this is going to only add to it.
