Christian Wood is ecstatic that the Dallas Mavericks drafted Jaden Hardy this 2022. After the youngster's impressive Summer League debut, the new Mavs big man is convinced the team got a massive steal.

While the Mavs' Summer League team eventually lost to the Chicago Bulls in overtime on Friday, Hardy did show the goods and prove to everyone why he shouldn't have been a second-round pick in the first place. Sure Hardy had his mistakes–even committing the costly turnover that allowed Chicago to force overtime–but he finished with 28 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

That is certainly an encouraging performance from a 20-year-old that the Mavs got by trading for the no. 37 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. And for Wood, he's just thankful to have another talented teammate in his new club.

Jaden Hardy has been largely considered as one of the biggest steals of the 2022 draft, and for good reason. After all, he was expected to go in the mid or late first round, but he kept slipping on the draft boards until the Mavs saw a chance to get him for a lower cost.

With Jalen Brunson also leaving and bolting to the New York Knicks, the addition of Hardy comes as good news for the Mavs. Of course he still has a lot of things to work on in his game, but there is no doubt he has the skills and talent to thrive in the NBA and make an impact on Dallas right from the start.
