The Dallas Mavericks are dealing with a major injury scare ahead of the NBA Playoffs. Mavs star and MVP candidate Luka Doncic suffered a left calf strain in the regular-season finale on Sunday, and now the team and its fans are holding their breath as they await MRI results.

On Monday, Doncic was spotted at the hospital in a walking boot:

Doncic suffered the injury late in the third quarter of the season-ending win over the San Antonio Spurs. There was initial optimism that the Mavs star avoided a serious injury, but that doesn't mean he'll definitely be ready to go for Game 1 on Saturday against the Utah Jazz. The Mavs earned the no. 4 seed in the Western Conference with a 52-30 record, which was just one game behind the third-seeded Golden State Warriors.

If Doncic misses any time, that's obviously a killer blow to Dallas' chances against Utah. The 23-year-old put together another monstrous campaign, averaging 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.7 assists while shooting 45.7% overall and 35.3% from 3-point range. After a sluggish start to the season, Doncic surged into MVP contention as the Mavs rose up the standings.

Now, Dallas and its fans just have to hope this injury truly isn't too serious. The fact that Doncic is in a walking boot isn't the best sign:

However, this isn't the end of the world just yet. Doncic is surely in some pain, but this doesn't mean he's going to miss a lot of time. We'll just have to see what this MRI shows.
