The Mavs are among the teams who have expressed strong interest in signing restricted free agent guard Delon Wright, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.

Wright is a restricted free agent with the Memphis Grizzlies. The guard can sign an offer sheet with the Mavs if he wants, and then the Grizzlies would have 48 hours to match the offer sheet or let Wright walk.

Wright split time this past season with the Toronto Raptors and Grizzlies. The Raptors traded Wright, C.J. Miles, Jonas Valanciunas and a 2024 second-round pick to the Grizzlies for Marc Gasol on Feb 7.

With the Raptors and Grizzlies, Wright averaged 8.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 29.8 percent from beyond the arc and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line. Delon is the younger brother of Dorell Wright, who played 549 games in the NBA.

The Mavs could use some guard depth since J.J. Barea is going to miss most, if not all, of next season recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. The Mavs did agree to a deal with sharpshooter Seth Curry on Monday. Dallas went 33-49 in 2018-19. They missed the playoffs for the third straight year.

The Mavs are excited to deploy Kristaps Porzingis next to Luka Doncic next season in the post-Dirk Nowitzki era.
