Dallas Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis has been ruled out of Tuesday's Game 5 against the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The Mavs' 7-foot-3 forward was listed as questionable prior to Tuesday after being a late scratch in Game 4 — something that became an afterthought after teammate Luka Doncic put up a 43-point, 17-rebound, 13-assist triple-double that included a game-winner at the buzzer.

With this first-round series tied at 2-2, it will take yet another gargantuan effort from Doncic to give the Mavs a lead. Both of the Mavs' losses have been by single digits, though the did enjoy a double-digit victory in Game 2.

Doncic already has two 40-point games to his name along with two triple-doubles and it looks like he will have to continue on that same streak to give the Mavs a chance. Role players like Seth Curry, Trey Burke, and Tim Hardaway Jr. have also stepped up during this run, yet Porzingis, who led the Mavs in scoring in Game 3 with 34 points, will be needed sooner than later.

Porzingis missed a season and a half after tearing the ACL in his left knee, an event that would become his final game with the New York Knicks. He's dealt with right knee soreness several times throughout this season, including missing a stretch of 10 games in the middle of the season.

Head coach Rick Carlisle noted this knee injury is different from his ACL woes:

“From what I understand, this situation is different than the one in January,” said Carlisle, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. “That's all I can tell you. That's all I really want to get into.”

The Latvian international is averaging 23.7 points and 8.7 rebounds in the first playoff series of his career.
