Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic certainly didn't like the way he executed their final offensive possession in Game 4 against the Utah Jazz.

The Mavs lost 100-99 after Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert pair up for the lob to give the Jazz the lead. Dallas still had 11 seconds left after that to respond and retake the advantage for the final play of the game, but they failed to get it done.

Doncic, as expected, was doubled-teamed in their final play and had to pass the ball to Spencer Dinwiddie. Unfortunately, the veteran guard's 3-point attempt at the buzzer fell short.

According to Luka, though, he should have tried harder to get a better shot considering there is still some time left.

“We didn’t really execute it well,” Doncic said, per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News. “I should’ve maybe drive the ball more. I should’ve get a better shot, but it’s tough. We have another game. We’ve just got to learn from it and go onto the next one.”

Luka Doncic and the Mavs' regret are understandable. Up by four points with 39 seconds left in the contest, it was a two-possession game that they could have won easily. Things could have been 3-1 for them now with a chance to close it out in Dallas.

Nonetheless, their late-game defense was suspect as they fell victim to the Mitchell-Gobert combo.

While there were a lot of things that went wrong for them in crunch time, they can only learn from it. The return of Doncic after missing Games 1 to 3 due to calf injury is already a positive development. Now, they just have to take advantage of the opportunities presented to them and close things out properly.
