Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was recently asked who would win in a hypothetical one-on-one game: Dirk Nowitzki or Luka Doncic?

Cuban chose his first love in Dirk Nowitzki as the potential winner of the Mavs superstar showdown, should they face each other both in their youth.

Via 10 Questions with Kyle Brandt podcast:

“I think Dirk because Dirk won’t miss,” claimed the Mavs owner. “Just in a regular one-on-one game, I think I gotta go with Dirk. Dirk couldn’t stop Luka, but Luka couldn’t stop Dirk and Dirk four years in (to his career) is a better shooter.”

Luka Doncic hasn't been asked on his take on the matter. But perhaps he's caught wind of Cuban's take, given that he's decided to give the business to his unsuspecting Mavs teammates in practice. Check out Luka work his magic to get bucket after bucket in several one-on-one matchups.

No disrespect to the great Dirk Nowitzki, but it's a hard choice going against Luka Doncic as he enters his fourth season in the NBA. The Mavs wunderkind already has two All-Star appearances and an All-NBA first team selection under his belt. Dirk Nowitzki meanwhile had yet to make an All-Star team until his fourth year.

But perhaps Dirk's size and post-up ability would have made it impossible for Luka to defend him one-one-one. If you'd be getting the ball back after each bucket, whichever Mavs star got the ball first was probably winning it all.

Mark Cuban and Mavs fans are the true winners, though. Being able to pass the baton from one all-time great to another is all you could hope for from your franchise.
