Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic was ejected in the third quarter of his team's loss to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday after kicking the ball into the stands following a made basket by Pacers big man Domantas Sabonis.

What's funny is that this wasn't your typical “kick the ball into the stands because I'm angry” sort of incident. Doncic literally looked like he was trying to play soccer and did a pretty poor job, resulting in the basketball flying into the crowd.

Afterward, Doncic said he was trying to juggle the ball, soccer style:

Obviously, Doncic does not realize that it doesn't matter if you are booting the ball out of frustration or trying to work on your soccer skills; you can't kick the ball in an NBA game like that, period.

So, even if the ball didn't go into the stands, Doncic probably would have been hit with a technical foul.

Perhaps there was some frustration involved in Doncic's actions, because he was having a very rough game prior to his ejection. Before being tossed, Doncic had just eight points, six assists and five rebounds while shooting just 3-of-14 from the floor, missing all five of his 3-point attempts. He also went just 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.

On the year overall, the 19-year-old Luka Doncic is averaging 20.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists over 32 minutes per game while shooting 43.2 percent from the floor, 36.6 percent from 3-point range and 73.0 percent from the charity stripe.

The Mavs have now lost three games in a row to drop to 20-25 on the season.
