Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has a mild sprain in his left ankle after an MRI revealed nothing alarming, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN. The Mavs trail the L.A. Clippers 2-1 in the first round of the 2020 playoffs.

Doncic is expected to be a game-time decision for Game 4.

Luka Doncic will probably do anything it takes to play in Game 4. However, he may not be as effective as he normally is.

Through the first three games of the series, Doncic is averaging 27.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in 32.0 minutes a night for the Mavs. He's also shooting 48.1 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 70.3 percent from the free-throw line.

If the Mavs lose Game 4, they will likely lose the series in five. It's unfortunate that Doncic may not be healthy for the rest of the series, but it provides Mavs big man Kristaps Porzingis an opportunity to become the No. 1 option on offense.

Dallas can always use Doncic as a decoy and have him spot up from long distance if he's unable to get by people due to the ankle sprain. Furthermore, the Slovenian phenom is one of the best passers in the league.

It also helps that his game isn't reliant on explosiveness or quick changes in direction. Doncic keeps it slow and steady, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make a move.

The Mavs haven't won a postseason series since 2011. That was when Dallas won the championship over the Miami Heat.
