The Dallas Mavericks took yet another loss to the lowly New York Knicks as Luka Doncic's 33-point triple-double went to waste against Kristaps Porzingis' former team. Mavs owner Mark Cuban admits his new prodigy is very different from the 21-year staple he had in Dirk Nowitzki, showing a completely different demeanor, including doing a whole lot of stupid s**t at times:

“They’re totally different. Dirk would never smile on the court,” Cuban told Mike Mazzeo of Yahoo Sports. “Dirk was so emotional. He had language barriers at the beginning that Luka doesn’t have, so he had different types of challenges. Luka just comes out like we’re playing pickup at the gym. He’s having fun. He’s loving it. Being 20 and having [veteran mentors] J.J. [Barea] and Courtney Lee around him, he’s evolving.”

“Luka does stupid s**t like any 20 year old does, and that’s a good thing. He’s still a kid at heart, but he’s also a professional at the same time and he’s smart. You don’t realize how smart he is until you’re around him a lot.”

Doncic has a fun-loving attitude to him that is contagious, and one that helped him play the game in a way that earned him enough votes to become the Rookie of the Year in 2018-19.

He has carried that same style to boost his numbers this season to MVP level, though the 6-5 Mavs are still a work in progress with some maturing to do before they become real contenders in the West.
