Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is a lot of things, and that includes being an All-Star in the 2021-22 NBA season. What he is not, though, is a man who has the physique of a Roman-era sculpture. While Doncic doesn't look like someone who spends a good amount of time in the weight room, Mavs owner Mark Cuban shared that the Slovenian has started to change his ways with the goal of cutting down some weight (h/t Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News).

On@dfwticket, Mark Cuban says he believes Luka Doncic was humbled by criticism of his weight and not being voted an All-Star starter, leading to change of diet and increased workouts. “It finally clicked in that there's a level of discipline involved.”

Despite the perceived weight troubles, it doesn't seem that Doncic is having difficulty performing on the court. While he's not like other NBA players who love to do weights, there isn't a lot out there who could say they have a heavier burden carrying a team than Doncic does with the Mavs.

So far this season, Doncic is leading the Mavs in points (27.5 PPG), rebounds (9.2 RPG), and assists (9.0). Among NBA players with logging in at least 20 minutes per game, Doncic is second — just behind Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers — in usage rate (36.4%).
