Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is ecstatic about the massive officiating improvements in the NBA despite the Mavs being on the losing end of a couple of critical late-game calls.

The NBA released the Last Two Minute Report of the Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Lakers game last Friday. They admitted that they missed two critical calls — one of which includes Dwight Howard's foul on Seth Curry which left Danny Green open for the 3-pointer that sent the game to overtime.

“I love it,” Cuban said of the league’s Last Two Minute report of games that are within five points in the time frame, per Mavs reporter Eddie Sefko. “Remember, we went through a period not long ago where people thought the games were fixed. There was no transparency. We went through a long period where people thought – and some people still think – the stars get all the calls.”

Apart from praising the more transparent officiating, Cuban also offered his thoughts on how to further improve the system.

For him, G League referees — who eventually turn into NBA referees — should also get a larger piece of the pie in terms of training.

“We spend all our resources trying to train NBA refs,” the Mavs owner said. “And in my opinion, we don’t take enough resources to train G-League refs. The G-League has a 45-game season. There’s time for refs to spend time getting more training, doing more video work, do more on-court work. They can work with G-League teams during practices.”

Indeed, the NBA is constantly trying to improve the basketball experience not just for the fans, but for the players themselves.
