Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is taking another step to support folks in the Dallas community affected by the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. On Saturday, the team at Civic Science tweeted their intentions to reimburse employees' expenses from local establishments during the outbreak, and encouraged others to do the same. Cuban shared his enthusiasm for the initiative before announcing he was hopping on board and will be reimbursing customers from local businesses.

Cuban previously pledged to financially support Mavs and AmericanAirlines Center staff during the NBA's hiatus. “I reached out to the folks at the arena and our folks at the Mavs to find out what it would cost to financially support people who aren't going to be able to come to work… We've already started the process of having a program in place.”

“You want to really make sure you're doing this the right way because now it's much more personal, and you've seen what's happened in other countries,” Cuban said regarding the league's decision to halt play for at least 30 days. NBA stars and owners around the league have made various pledges to support employees of the team and arena affected by the pandemic. “As of Friday night, roughly half of N.B.A. teams had announced or said they were finalizing plans to reimburse workers for lost wages,” according to The New York Times.

As of Friday, Dallas County had reported 11 positive cases of coronavirus cases.
