Dirk Nowitzki, one of the greatest players of all-time, has spent 21 years playing for the Dallas Mavericks. The one-time champion gave fans a lot of memorable moments during his successful NBA tenure for the Mavs.

In what could be his final season, Nowitzki has received nothing but love from not only Mavs fans, but also those who cheer for the opposing teams.

This was again evident in the Mavs' game versus the Boston Celtics. Nowitzki checked in with 1:07 left in the first quarter, and the Boston crowd showed their appreciation for the multiple time All-Star.

Although this is not officially a farewell tour, Dirk Nowitzki has received similar treatment when Dallas played the Charlotte Hornets and the Sacramento Kings on the road.

In his 21 seasons, Nowitzki has career averages of 21.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He appeared in the All-Star game 13 times. He was voted the regular season MVP in 2007 and was the Finals MVP in 2011 when he led the Mavs to a stunning upset of the Miami Heat. Nowitzki also won the ESPYS Male Athlete of the Year in 2011.

He currently holds the NBA record for the longest-tenured player in a single franchise, a rare feat that was once held by Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who stayed with the purple and gold franchise for 20 years.

Entering the Celtics game, the Mavs sat at the 11th spot in the Western Conference playoff race with an 18-19 record. Nowitzki, together with the Mavs' newest sensation in Luka Doncic are trying their best to keep their playoff hopes alive.

One final dance in the postseason would be a perfect ending to what has been a storied career by Dirk.
