Max Holloway and Conor McGregor are names that are always going to be linked. They fought each other in the UFC when both were still young in their respective careers.

Conor McGregor went on to become featherweight champion at UFC 194. Max Holloway was also on the event and only a few fights away from a title shot himself.

The two had been interested in a rematch after both became big contenders at featherweight. It wouldn't happen as Conor McGregor moved up to lightweight to challenge for another belt.

Now though, both men are in a strange spot in the UFC. McGregor has taken some big losses that prevent him from fighting for the belt again while Max Holloway has two losses to the champion, Alex Volkanovski.

Now it appears we are in a scenario where the fight makes sense. Max Holloway wants to fight everybody, Conor McGregor is a nice name.

“Anybody at ‘45 or ‘55 after those guys, my name pops up,” Holloway said on The MMA Hour (transcription via MMAFighting). “You can go call [UFC executive] Hunter [Campbell] right now, go ask him who can sell, who’s going to sell numbers with Conor, and they’re going to drop my name all the time. So, at the end of the day, I’m always on the shortlist for Conor, so we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what happens. First things first. I’ve got to fight November 13th and we’ll go from there.”

Max Holloway has to get through Yair Rodriguez in his next UFC fight but there is no doubt a bout with Conor McGregor will be well received. The time seems right for both men.
