Former Arizona Diamondbacks manager and current broadcast Bob Brenly was in hot water on Tuesday night after making a racial comment towards New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman. He has since apologized.

Brenly initially said “Pretty sure that's the same do-rag that Tom Seaver used to wear when he pitched for the Mets,”, which Stroman then responded after the game with this:

Brenly then released a statement ahead of Wednesday's day game between the D-Backs and Mets, via ESPN:

“During last night's game, I made a poor attempt at humor that was insensitive and wrong,” the statement said. “I apologize to Marcus Stroman and have reached out directly to share those thoughts. I have had several conversations with the D-backs and we agree that seeking sensitivity training is an important step so I can continue to learn from my mistakes in order to be better in the future.”

Stroman has been outspoken on many issues within the Black community and continues to be an advocate for racism. The Mets eventually lost 6-5 in 10 innings, with Marcus Stroman tossing six innings and giving up three runs on seven hits.

He was also involved in an altercation with Josh Rojas which led to the benches clearing, but no punches were thrown.
