With three people left in their search for a new manager, the New York Mets are wrapping up their final interviews with each remaining candidate. Buck Showalter, the most experienced candidate — and the only one with managing a major league team — seems like the frontrunner.

However, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Mets' brass is divided on who to pick.

As Heyman noted, Showalter has a long track record of success, posting a winning season in 11 of his 20 years of managing, which has come with four teams. His most recent breakthrough was leading the Baltimore Orioles to the American League Championship Series in 2014. He has won three Manager of the Year Awards. Some reports peg him as the favorite to land the position.

Joe Espada and Matt Quatraro have spent the past few years on the coaching staffs of teams that have made the World Series in the past two years. They each served as bench coaches for the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays, respectively.

The Mets finished third in their division last year after being in first place for a long time. This weekend, they will likely know who will lead the effort to get playoff baseball back in Citi Field. With a retooled roster, featuring three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer, New York is positioned to contend for the NL East title.
