Houston Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni will give San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich a taste of his own medicine today by not playing his starters.

Albeit a preseason game, James Harden, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, and Clint Capela did not make the trip to San Antonio for their final preseason tune-up, according to ESPN beat writer Calvin Watkins.

The move, while a sound one for precautionary reasons to give his weapons an extra rest, comes as a slight dig to a coach that's been famous for resting his starters during regular season games, often upsetting fans around the league.

D'Antoni also mentioned he had yet to make a decision on who would start at center between Capela and Nene.

“It may be a game-to-game thing,” D'Antoni said Friday. “It's a two-headed monster, it might change depending on the matchups.”

Veteran Pablo Prigioni is bound to get the start at the point guard position after an injury to Patrick Beverley that will force him to miss some games.
